I worked with another student to create an interface for an autonomous vehicle to be used by the Police service. This video showcases the prototype and the process behind the P.A.V.I Interface for Police autonomous vehicles.
P.A.V.I Interface
I created the interface on Sketch and then imported it into Invision to create a working prototype. In total there were 163 screens used to make the fully functional prototype.
Process
I initially began researching my target users with online surveys, interviews, ethnographic research, generative sessions and online focus groups. With my team mate I then created an affinity diagram and 2 personas and, using storyboards, mapped out the typical police experience from the perspective of both the civilian and the police officer. This revealed correlations between the needs of the officer and the civilian, narrowing key issues down to 6 problem areas: health, technology, information, organisation, communication and navigation.
We used this information going forward to conceptualise solutions. We utilised gestalt principles and Neilson's Heuristics in order to prevent possible user issues with our interface, testing them with users through the think aloud method as well as unsupervised remote testing.
