I am unable to disclose the details of some of the work I have completed due to NDAs and Privacy agreements. Please reach out to me if you would like to know about any of this work.
At Foxtel I worked in end to end product design for the interface on the IQ Box, working with sole responsibility for the new watchlist feature and the integration of third party applications on the box.
For the watchlist feature, this involved working through a discovery phase to identify industry trends and patterns that the user would be familiar with and then identifying how these could be framed to fit within the Foxtel ecosystem. I then used a process of testing the interaction model and iteration to refine my designs based on feedback from those tests. This included simple tests to identify correct language and iconography to complex prototypes used to test the user journey and flow. The objective was for a user to be able to easily add an item to their watchlist and then access it from their library. This also required a rewiring of the user mindset as the library was expanded to contain a watchlist or bookmarked items, not just recordings and rental items (user owned assets). I would regularly hold meetings with product heads to discuss designs and business requirements to ensure solutions were not only user centric but also adhered to business requirements and economic feasibility.
A limited rollout to selected Foxtel customers earlier this year resulted in an overwhelmingly positive response to the watchlist and apps integration with many stating it was the best feature to reach the platform thus far. The first phase was successfully rolled out to the general public on time on May 1st.
My work at Foxtel involved significant user research. I have experience in survey design, interviews and conducting focus groups. I have facilitated the building of research testing roadmaps and timelines for Foxtel streaming subsidiaries, Kayo and Binge, to ensure that all deliverables are on time and available to Stakeholders. This includes monthly dashboards that collate user feedback to identify possible future roadmap items and tech issues that need to be addressed.
